Waterproofing of the garment
The garment passed a shower test under 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for two hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower. The fabric of this jacket is water-repellent, i.e. water runs off its surface without being absorbed. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. What's more, all the seams are taped.
How to maintain the waterproof property of your jacket over time
For lasting water repellency of the fabric, we advise you to reactivate it regularly. We recommend doing this every three washes or after a dozen uses in the rain. The water-repellent property is easily reactivated by warming the fabric: either in your tumble dryer or with a hairdryer, for example, over a relatively short period. If you are washing it, it must be thoroughly rinsed.
Waterproof rating expressed in mm or Schmerbers
The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the JIS 1092 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 5,000 mm of water.
Technical hood
The hood can be adjusted in height using a drawstring. It can be adjusted in depth thanks to a velcro tab at the back of the hood. The hood has a shape memory visor for good protection of the face.
Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its total evaporative resistance (RET) based on the ISO 11092 standard. The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape, and the higher the fabric's breathability.
- RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric
- 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric
- 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric
- RET > 20 = little or no breathability
How to choose your waterproof jacket based on your type and level of sporting activity?
During sports activity, the extent to which we perspire depends on the intensity or the duration of the physical effortIf the breathability of the fabric is not adapted to your type of physical activity, the perspiration vapour condenses inside the jacketYou will feel damp insidethis is not rain coming through but perspiration vapour condensingYou therefore need to choose a rain jacket according to your type of physical activityThis jacket is designed for 2 hours hiking at a max. speed of 5 km/h
Technical linings
The jacket lining is made up of two materials: mesh in the back to improve the garment's breathability and nylon at the hips to maximise ease of movement and resistance to wear. We have used an ultra-soft fabric on the hood for added comfort.
Complete pocket system
The jacket has seven pockets in total! Two side pockets for warming your hands. Two large external bellows pockets with a flap and press stud closure. One outer chest pocket and one inside pocket with zip closing to secure your personal belongings. One inner mesh pocket, to keep your gloves for example, and keep them warm against your body!
